I thought it’d be cool to show a few of the logos that didn’t make it as the new identity for Austin Flyers Women’s Cycling and how we arrived at the final mark. So, here we have a bunch that range from really masculine to really feminine. Lots of wings, lots of pinks, some bubbly letters, fat outlines, and even an eagle that makes an A and an F. Yes, there’s a lot of pink here, but we were more concerned about the overall look at this stage.
These were the two that made it into the final round. Both of them received a good amount of refinement before the members of the club voted on their favorite. The winner that rose to the top was…
Here is the final, full lockup in white over their chosen shade of blue. We also created versions with white backgrounds, sans “Women’s Cycling”, and sans “Austin” to accommodate different places that the logo may appear. For instance, within the Texas racing scene, they’re known well as just the “Flyers”.
We even made a stamp to use at skills clinics and parties hosted by the women.
